Tooth Implants Hayes

If you have missing teeth, dental implants can be useful for ensuring that a replacement tooth stays in place without causing further damage to the gums or remaining teeth and can be an alternative to bridge work or dentures.

As well as a thorough examination to assess your suitability and the amount of viable, stable bone mass in your jaw, you may also undergo a CT-scan and your dentist will discuss the course of action with you. You will also be sent written confirmation of the treatment plan and are more than welcome to discuss any queries or concerns you may have.

Dental implants can offer plenty of fantastic benefits including an improved facial structure, predictable results so you know how they will appear, less risk of bone atrophy, pain-free chewing and an overall improvement in good health and quality of life.

When you lose a tooth, both the crown and the root need to be considered and replaced. To replace the root, a tiny titanium cylinder is inserted to serve as a stable and functional root. Titanium has the advantage of being ‘bone-friendly’ and has the ability to bond with the bone itself.

If you have lost a tooth, it is important to contact us as soon as possible to discuss your options as the longer it is left, the more likely bone atrophy is. This can mean that your jaw bone is unsuitable for implants as you require sufficient bone density and strength in order to support them.

The titanium replacement root is placed using a very precise and delicate surgical technique and we use anaesthesia to ensure that the area is completely numb. You can also have IV sedation you are particularly nervous. It will take approximately 3-6 months for the implant to bond with the bone and from here your dentist will decide whether to set a temporary replacement tooth or whether a bridge or dentures would be more suitable.

Dental implants can also replace the tooth itself and look extremely natural. They maintain the appearance and functionality of a natural tooth and does not require any other teeth to help anchor it into place. You can still suffer from gum disease even with a dental implant and this can affect the longevity of your implant so it is important to maintain good oral hygiene.

We use trusted, highly specialised labs and systems, such as “Straumann”, to make sure that you receive the best possible service. The systems are highly precise, and use state of the art technology. They are are industry-leading systems so together we can obtain excellent long term results. We will go over the details of these systems with you thoroughly and discuss which one is right for you.
